Recall worries? We can help.
How to find out if your car is recalled Finding out that your vehicle may be involved in a recent recall can be stressful. It’s important to understand the recall process, how to find out if your car is recalled, and what steps need to happen to see that the issue is rectified in a safe and timely fashion. Here at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac, our priority is to make sure you get your situation handled quickly and efficiently - whether you need your vehicle to receive necessary repairs as part of the recall or you just need to ascertain whether your specific model is involved. Today we’ll go over some of that process so that you know what to expect. more If your car has been recalled for any reason, it is the manufacturer’s responsibility to make sure you’re properly notified. The notification should come in the form of a letter with specific instructions about the nature of the recall and what you need to do in order to have your car services under the recall. If you’ve received such a letter, we suggest you give our service center a call so we can get you in as soon as possible to get things taken care of. Now, what if you know that your particular model is one that’s been affected but you haven’t received a letter? Things get lost in the mail, and oversights happen in even the most well-run of corporate conditions. You might just find yourself wanting to be totally sure - the old “no news is good news” adage really doesn’t resonate so well when the safety of your vehicle in in question. That’s why we are helping to provide you with a resource that should clear up once and for all whether your vehicle is being recalled and what you need to do if it is. Nobody likes to be left hanging! By filling out the above form, you’ll hear back from a representative here at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac shortly to discuss with you whether your vehicle is included. We should note that in most cases, if you don’t receive a letter, your vehicle is not being recalled. There’s usually a highly specific window of time at a single factory that is included in the recall, and a large number of cars that share the make and model year are not affected in any way. Any questions? Let us know and we’ll be sure to help you in any way we can.

Error lights shining bright
Service Center Kenosha You cringe when you see that little, orange engine light illuminate. You shake your head in frustration when you see the tire symbol flash. All that comes to your mind is hundreds of dollars in repairs, and a few days being stuck with an out-of-comission car. But before you work yourself up into a tizzy, stop by the Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac service center in Kenosha. We’ll diagnose and correct the problems in the blink of an eye. Not every light and repair is going to break the bank. Here are some common reasons that your car is telling you to visit us at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac of Kenosha for a check-up. more Loose Gas Cap: Yep. This is a common reason for a lit Check Engine light. Simply re-tighten the cap to see if this was the issue. If the symbol persists, that may mean you need to replace the gas cap. It’s a cheap fix that can alleviate the problem. Failing Oxygen Sensor: The O2 sensor can begin to fail from not keeping up with car care and repair or by using gasoline with high ethanol content. It can cost close to $300 to replace the defective sensor, but the O2 sensor should be taken care of if it is determined to be the issue. Failing Catalytic Converter: This is quite a costly repair, running upwards of $1000+. The catalytic converter turns dangerous compounds such as hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen oxides into non-threatening composites. Low Tire Pressure: This is its own symbol, looking like a flat tire. There are a couple reasons that your car may be telling you this: Your tire pressure may actually be too low in one or several tires; One or more of your tires may be going flat; if you switched to winter tires or a spare, they may not have a sensor, triggering the symbol as well. This is a common problem in the wintertime. The cold weather can cause the air in the tire to contract, lowering the PSI. Don't wait for problems to snowball. Come in and see us. We'll set things right. And from now until May 21st, 2014 print off our coupon and save on a Check Engine Light/ ABS diagnosis.
Distracted driving habits to kick right now
Distracted driving information You hear a lot about distracted driving these days. Everyone seems to know and generally agree that it's dangerous, but people still seem to have a hard time taking the warnings seriously and actually modifying their behavior. We suggest that you take a look at this list of distracted driving habits - and they're just some of the major ones - and ask yourself if you've been an offender in the last month. If the answer is yes, make a promise to yourself and the other drivers, passengers, and pedestrians whose safety depends on it, to stop right away. It's not worth it. more 1. Text/Phone/Social Media. This is the big one everybody knows is problematic, but again and again people are involved in accidents as a result. You cannot responsibly operate something as large and dangerous as a motor vehicle while looking at your phone at the same time. If something is urgent, find an exit and use your phone when you've safely stopped. If it's not urgent, it can wait. Today's vehicles have lots of options for connectivity, but even they can get distracting. Keep your priorities straight. 2. Pets. Of course, you need to bring your pets along with you sometimes, but it's important not to let them distract you from the road. If your pet can't keep from distracting you while loose in the vehicle, you'll need a crate or harness that secures to the safety belt, depending on the size of your pet. Don't wing it - plan ahead. If something is happening with your pet that constitutes an emergency, safely pull off the road to deal with it or you could very well have a second emergency on your hands. 3. Food and drink. Yes, drive-through windows and meals on the go are a tempting way to save time in your busy schedule, but it's also highly unsafe. From unexpected spills to not having your hand on the wheel while eating, eating and drinking while behind the wheel take your attention away from where it needs to be: the road, and the safety of everyone on it (including you). According to the Centers for Disease Control, distracted driving kills more than fifteen people and injures more than 1,200. That's every day. We all want that number to come down, so please take an honest look at the list and make the right choice. Questions about safe driving? Give us a call here at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac.
Get to know the Cadillac CTS
What does Cadillac CTS stand for? You know the Cadillac CTS. It's that striking, powerful, technologically advanced sport sedan that just won Motor Trend's 2014 Car of the Year. Oh yeah, that one! It's kind of hard to miss. But here's a question you may or may not have thought of before: What does Cadillac CTS stand for? Today we'll explore a little bit of our favorite luxury sedan's beginnings, including where it gets the name CTS. Then we'll tell you more about the current model, in stock now here at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac! more The Cadillac CTS was introduced in 2002 as a 2003 model, so it's just over ten years old. Some special facts about its introduction: it was the first Cadillac to offer a manual transmission since the Cimarron back in 1988, though today the sedan is only available in 6- and 8-speed automatic (You can still find a manual on some used models, though, if that's your thing!). The first generation CTS also helped usher in Cadillac's now-famous "Art & Science" design language that still permeates the brand's stunning lineup. CTS stands for Catera Touring Sedan, as the model came in as Cadillac's successor to the Catera mid-size sedan which was produced from 1997-2001. If you have a good memory for things like this, it was "the Caddy that zigs" and had ads featuring Cindy Crawford: Nowadays, the Catera's successor, our mighty CTS, is even more fit for a princess/supermodel. With features that automakers of decades past only imagined in their science-fiction imaginations like the Cadillac User Experience (CUE) information and media control system with embedded navigation, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive remote start, and Ultrasonic Rear Park Assist, we think this hyper-modern luxury sedan is one of the best options out there (and the critics seem to agree!). Want to test drive one today? Come on in and see us here at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac, and see how far the CTS has come.
