How does the 2014 Buick Verano compare?

2014 Buick Verano vs 2014 Ford Fusion The 2014 Buick Verano Because people often associate Buick with dependable luxury - as they well should -  sometimes it can be all-too easy to forget that they make comfortable, affordable sedans that can easily compete with the top of today's most popular brands. Take the 2014 Ford Fusion, for example. It's a well-loved, inexpensive family sedan that you see all over the place. How does the 2014 Buick Verano compare? The results may surprise you! more The first thing that will probably catch your attention is that the price is about the same. In fact, if you want to get technical, the Verano carries a slightly lower MRSP than the Fusion. For that lower price, you can still count on the level of luxury that come standard in a Buick, like dual-zone climate control (the Fusion comes standard with manual) and an 8-way power driver's seat (4-way on the Ford). You'll also see that the Verano sports a more capable engine, with higher horsepower and a 0-60 time that clocks in at 7.7 seconds next to Fusion's 8.5. The Verano's gas mileage is slightly lower, but not by a much. Comfort and luxury in the Verano So, how are you covered with these two new vehicles if something goes wrong? You'll see in the chart there that the 2014 Buick Verano is covered by the GM Total Warranty at 48 months/50,000 miles, while the Ford only gives you coverage for 36 months - a whole year less - or 36,000 miles. You'll see similar differences for the powertrain, corrosion peforation, roadside assistance, and maintenance warranties - Buick offers something better on all fronts. If you're thinking about a new sedan, don't assume the familiar Ford is always the way to go. Come on in to Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac today and have a look at the 2014 Buick Verano. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how comfortable, capable, and enjoyable to drive it is. Our friendly sales consultants are here to answer any questions you may have!

Are you a business owner? Your 2013 tax benefit is about to disappear!

Area business people, take notice! There’s a huge tax incentive available to you right now that will only last through the remainder of 2013. It’s under Section 179 and it allows for a tax deduction of up to $500,000 for qualified business owners. Sound good? We’ll tell you all about it right here! more The background: Ever hear of “The Hummer Loophole” that allowed business owners to buy expensive passenger vehicles and then write them off as an expense? Yeah, that didn’t last long! But the government still wanted to incentivize business owners – those smaller ones trying to get a leg up in particular – to upgrade their equipment and put some of today’s great innovations to work for their business. The solution: For 2013, the incentive has been carefully limited to offer the maximum benefit to businesses with minimal possibility for abuse. The vehicles whose purchase price may be expensed in their entirety (up to $500,000 total per business) are restricted to heavy-duty, “non-SUV” vehicles such as pickups with full-sized cargo beds (min. six feet interior length), passenger vans seating nine or more people behind the driver’s seat, and classic cargo vans. But can’t we always write off vehicles for business purposes? What’s special about this incentive? Normally, you can write off the cost of a vehicle only in the amount of its annual depreciation. The benefits come your way over time, year by year. With the current incentive you are able to write off the full cost of qualified vehicles in their entirety for the 2013 tax year. What vehicles at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac qualify for the full deduction? Those GMC Sierra vehicles with a full-size cargo bed are applicable, as is the GMC Savana cargo van. Also, used vehicles are included in the incentive as well, so feel free to check out our vast selection of large trucks and vans. If you have any questions about the tax incentives available to you, please don’t hesitate to contact us! Just make sure you hurry – these benefits will end on 12/31/2013!

Winter’s definitely upon us, literally and figuratively. Some of us may be finding that our current vehicle isn’t quite displaying the winter wherewithal we’d prefer to have. If you need space, comfort, and true all-weather capability, and are in the lucky position to be shopping for a new vehicle this season, let us suggest these great selections from our 2014 line-up of all-wheel drive crossovers and SUVs. more more For the following four vehicles, we’ve chosen the most basic trim level equipped with all-wheel drive. What would Santa Drive?

We know Santa needs his magic sleigh and flying reindeer to travel all over the world in one night. But if he had to do the job on four wheels, what would be his best bet? We’ve taken a look at some of the cars, SUVs, and trucks we have in stock and come up with the ones we think the big jolly guy would like the best for his big night! more If Santa had to deliver all the gifts by car, he’d definitely need to worry about fuel economy. Can you imagine the gas bill?! We’d recommend a plug-in, but he wouldn’t have time to recharge during the action-packed evening. So we’re going with the new 2014 Buick LaCrosse, which can get up to 36 highway mpg and comes with auxiliary audio input so Santa could blast his favorite Christmas music the whole night through. What if Santa’s main concern were comfort? It’s going to be an awfully long night on the road –  all the roads –  after all. For that, we’d probably have to recommend that Santa consider the 2014 Cadillac SRX Luxury Collection. With its heated and ventilated front seats, he and Mrs. Claus would feel supremely comfortable throughout the evening, and a Blu-ray® compatible rear-seat DVD entertainment system would keep those restless elves happy and entertained for the whole trip. But we know what Santa would really be after –  cargo and towing! How can he bring gifts to all the boys and girls of the world without superior capacity?! Luckily, we’ve got just the thing: the 2014 GMC Sierra! If he goes for the 6.2L V8 engine with the max trailering package, Santa will be looking at up to 12,000 lbs of toys hitched to his truck. That should at least minimize his time between refills! So if the laws of physics ever stop bending so generously for Santa Claus, he’s welcome to shop at Palmen anytime. And for the rest of us mere mortals, we’ve got lots of new and used cars, trucks, and SUVs here at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac!

Deer hunting information for the upcoming season

Wisconsin gun hunt 2013 Ready to take your GMC Sierra out for the gun hunt this season? Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac has all your 2013 Wisconsin gun hunting information right here in one convenient place. We’ve noticed that the details for these events tend to get scattered throughout a series of pages and downloadable files, and we wanted to give you a one-glance view of the important details for this year’s hunt. more What: Wisconsin gun hunting for white-tailed deer When: The dates for 2013 are Saturday, November 23 -  Sunday, December 1. The exact times vary greatly from area to area, and you can find a complete table on the DNR website, but you should plan to be allowed to hunt from 30 minutes before sunrise to 20 minutes after sunset in your location. You Need: If you were born on or after Jan. 1, 1973, you’ll need to have taken the Wisconsin Hunter Education course or an equivalent and have your certificate or other proof on hand when you purchase your hunting license, which you’ll also need in order to hunt. Licenses can be purchased at a number of locations, including Dick’s Sporting Goods on 76th Street, Gander Mountain on 118th Ave., Harborside Bait and Tackle, and several others. Depending on where you’re hunting, you’ll need to get the correct CWD carcass tags. They can also be purchased at the locations in Kenosha that are listed above. You may use 2012 CWD Unit Buck Authorization stickers from last  year’s antlerless deer hunt if you did not use them during last year’s harvest. They are not transferable to another person, though, and are only good through the 2013 season. Likewise, any Buck Authorization sticker that you earn this year through the harvest of an antlerless deer may be used for next year’s hunt if you wish to retain it until then. Please be aware that they’re not replaceable, though, so keep it in a safe place you won’t forget about! We recommend visiting the DNR website for all the important rules and regulations, but hopefully this overview will help! Happy hunting!

Classic movie Cadillac needs major restoration

How far would you go to make sure that one of your favorite pieces of history was maintained? Well, for some movie buffs, that favorite piece of history is the ECTO-1 from the Ghostbusters movies. As it turns out, the 1959 Cadillac ambulance used in the sequel of the film is in pretty rough shape, as it remains unattended on the Sony pictures lot. The love for the car, known as the ECTO-1A, has sparked an online petition to restore the ECTO-1 from Ghostbusters 2. more As you can imagine, a 1959 Cadillac that hasn’t had much going on since the 1989 release of Ghostbusters 2 is probably in pretty rough shape. As Cadillac fans here at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac, we have to say that we would love to see the classic Caddy be brought back to its proudest form. Just finding a car of that age in good condition in this day and age can be tricky. If you are a big fan of the movie, then you know that in the original, the car is found as a potential vehicle for the team to use. But, it needs some work. In the words of Ray Stanz in the film, the car needs “suspension work and shocks, brakes, brake pads, lining, steering box, transmission, rear end, new rings, mufflers, a little wiring.” The cost for such repairs was priced at $4,800. Unfortunately, in 2013 reality, the current ECTO-1A will probably need a bit more work than this cost could pay for. And by a bit, we mean ‘a lot.’ No matter the outcome of the attempt to restore the ECTO-1 from Ghostbusters 2, it is intriguing the lengths fans will go for some of their favorite movie items. We might not have a 1959 Cadillac available on the lot here at Palmen, but we do have some impressive new and used Cadillacs to show off. Check us out – and let us know if you joined the ECTO-1 petition!

Not ready for Halloween? We have the information you need

When is Trick-or-Treating in Kenosha for 2013? It’s already a week into October. So, if you haven’t been planning for Halloween yet, you might already be a little behind. If you have kids and live in the area, the first question is: When is Trick or Treating in Kenosha for 2013? Well, we can help you on that one. Trick-or-Treating is being held on Halloween day, Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. more But even though you now know when to actually take the kids out Trick-or-Treating, you may have another issue. They (or you) don’t have a costume! Again, the late date could hurt you here. But don’t worry, we at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac have a few costume ideas that are easy to make! And best of all, they are pretty unique! (No ghost bed sheet costumes). The moose. Have an extra pair of brown gloves? They can easily be made into moose horns. Pair it with a brown hoodie, and you are in business! The bat. Throw on a black outfit, and you are almost there. The wings? Make them out of an old umbrella. Suddenly you have an easy bat costume. PB&J. This is a team outfit. One person wears a brown shirt, the other a purple shirt. Pin some peanut butter and jelly labels to the shirts and you’re done. Peanut butter and jelly never looked so good. M&Ms. Again, with a few colored shirts, you are there. This is best with a few people in the group. Everyone wears a different color shirt, slaps an “m” on – and there you have it. The bumble bee. You probably guessed where we are going with this one. Wear a yellow shirt, throw on some black stripes, and instantly you are a bee. Like we said, these are some pretty last-minute ideas. If you have the time, you might want to go with some ideas that are a little more involved. But it’s better to go as something than being that one person with no costume on.

GMC announces details about new 2015 Yukon

2015 GMC Yukon Specs The new Yukon has been announced. Maybe it isn’t apparent from that statement alone, but the unveiling of this new highly capable SUV actually did lead to a lot of fanfare. That’s because the 2015 GMC Yukon specs are pretty impressive. And we’re talking about an SUV that already had a whole lot to be proud about. more So what is so new on the 2015 GMC Yukon specs? Well, the SUV will be able to deliver even more capability and overall power thanks to a new family of engines. The new Yukon, Yukon XL and Yukon Denali will be fitted with new EcoTec3 advanced engines that will allow them to have best-in-class in V8 fuel economy. When a vehicle has a V8 under the hood, it can get a lot done. But often, this added power sucks a great amount of fuel. So to hear that the new Yukon will be kinder on pocketbooks at the gas pumps is very good news. As for some of the other important 2015 GMC Yukon specs, try some of these on for size. The second and third-row seats on the Yukon will be able to fold flat to allow for more cargo capacity and greater convenience getting there. It will even have the ability to power-fold, keeping the consumer even further out of the process. In addition to the changes on the cargo capacity, the Yukon will also offer increased legroom in the back. Don’t think that the new Yukon is being left behind in technology either. No, quite the opposite in fact. The new 2015 GMC Yukon specs will include some technology stats. The vehicle will be fitted with an eight-inch color touch screen radio that will be easily linked and include navigation as well. There will also be multiple USB ports to allow every to stay connected as well. And of course, what would a full-size SUV be without a rear seat entertainment system? Yeah, the new Yukon is a pretty big deal. Want to know more? Click the button below and we’ll be in touch!

Cadillac CTS engine sounds are technologically advanced, but still natural

Feel and hear the roar of the CTS Twin-Turbo engine. How important is it to hear the sound of your car’s engine? Well, if you have a performance model vehicle, it probably is a little more important. Even though vehicle manufacturers are making great strides in providing quiet rides for drivers and passengers, the fact is – sometimes we want to hear the growl of our engines. more 2014 Cadillac CTS Engine Sounds At Cadillac, there was great effort devoted to the sounds coming out of the new Cadillac CTS. Understanding that drivers rely on the sounds coming out of the CTS to determine throttle response, engineers on the CTS tuned each driving mode on the CTS to sound a certain way. The result is some great 2014 Cadillac CTS engine sounds. The first mode is Tour mode, which is the most common “everyday driving” mode for the vehicle. The CTS is programmed to provide a purr of refinement when in this mode. The next, Sport mode, provides a little more growl to let drivers know that they are getting some serious response from the pedal. The final mode is Track mode, available only on the CTS Vsport with the Cadillac Twin-Turbo engine. As you can imagine, this version gives off a real “Roar.” (Just in time for Katy Perry’s newest hit). You may be wondering how the company engineered the 2014 Cadillac CTS engine sounds. The process actually includes microphones in the cabin of the vehicle. The integrated electronic sound enhancement provides the “just right” pitch for every driving mode on the new CTS. This doesn’t mean that artificial sounds were used – they were just perfectly tuned using the Bose audio system. So if you needed another reason to try out the new Cadillac CTS, this would be it. Take it for a test drive and take a listen to the engine through the awesome sound system. Hear the roar of the CTS.

The new Acadia keeps passengers happy in all three rows

Spacious seating for all in the new Acadia. SUV with a Spacious Third Row of Seating Stuck in the back seat. You didn’t call out “Shotgun” soon enough, now you are stuck in the back seat. It’s even worse to be stuck in the back when the vehicle has three rows of seating. Because everyone knows that the third row of seating isn’t fit for an actual human. Well, that was the reality. But with the new GMC Acadia, sitting in the third row has become more of a luxury. That’s because the Acadia is an SUV with a spacious third row of seating. more Just checking the stats on the Acadia shows that the third row of seats is expansive. It offers consumers 55 inches of shoulder room and 24 inches of fore-aft room. Finding a vehicle that has those kind of dimensions in the back is difficult, if not impossible. And thanks to the SmartSlide Seating System, getting to the third row of seats is also no problem. There’s really no reason to be practically crawling over the second row of seating to access the third, but that’s just what you have to do with many SUVs. To seat seven or eight passengers comfortably – including in the third row – you might think the Acadia is huge. But, it really isn’t, it just uses the space well. The 3.6-liter V6 engine gets an impressive 24 MPG on the highway while having the output families need at 288 horsepower. And the AWD makes drivers confident in what the SUV can handle out there in the world. No more complaints from the back seat passengers. This alone makes the Acadia one of the most coveted SUVs on the market. An SUV with a spacious third row of seating is hard to come by, so don’t pass this one up. Want to test out the room? Bring the family to Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac in Kenosha and see how everyone fits! Check out the 2014 GMC Acadia!
